Speaking:

An IELTS examiner evaluates the ability of the candidates to speak by live conversations, which is actually recorded in some recording devices. But in PTE, there is no live conversation and the candidate has to talk to the microphone to record in the computerized system. A computer program then evaluates speaking and rates the candidate.

Writing:

Due to being completely paper-based, the IELTS uses a diagram, graph, or chart for the writing section. On the other hand, PTE is fully computer-based and thus uses many innovative techniques to test the candidate’s writing capabilities.

Test rule:

There is a time schedule for each paper in IELTS, and candidates can go back and forth in it, while PTE has a section time in which you can move forward only.

Scoring Pattern:

PTE is based on fully automated scoring and grades one candidate for the 10-90 band. In the IELTS manual scoring pattern, the 0-9 band is used.
